Hello All,

On Friday I went to my international business workshop. We watched a video for 30 minutes on globalization and then broke up in groups to discuss. I guess it is a universal theme that people don’t like to take charge. I was in a group of about 15 students and like normal decided not to take the lead as to not box out others from being heard. When no one said anything after about 5 minutes I decided I was going to have to start the conversation. I had everyone introduce themselves but after that all but 3 of them were silent.

That being said the Kiwi people seem to be in a cultural middle between the US and the UK. They don’t like things as small as the British but not as big as the Americans. They seem to be appropriately sized.

After the little discussion we had to present our groups ideas to the class and again I wound up having to do it because no one else wanted to. It is a universal idea that people don’t want to stand up for themselves for fear of being wrong!

After class I went to the waterfront for a sit. It was a little cloudy but still sunny. I was there for about 30 mins when I felt a couple drops of rain. I decided then to leave even though it was still partially sunny.

As I turned the corner towards my flat I saw only black clouds in the sky. I put my bag down grabbed my fleece jacket and put it on over the bag. In the next 5 seconds the storm hit.

The winds are much worse then I though they could be and even saw a little kid get knocked down. I began running towards home and had to pause behind buildings where permitted. Almost no one was on the streets as everyone had dashed inside.

I arrived at the flat about 10 mins later completely soaked through and freezing. I still had a smile on though because it was a little fun running against the wind.

I took a hot shower to warm back up and watched the rain pour the rest of the night!

I defintely will not be caught in the storm without a jacket again!
