My Philosophy

Hello World!

Since I arried in New Zealand I have attempted to follow the Philosophy that “Everything will work itself out.” That is not to say that I haven’t been proactive in the process just that I endeavored to relax more and to worry about the specifics and details less. In other words to lose a bit of my Americaness :).

Such examples included not really knowing which specific bus to take from the airport, but having knowledge of the fact that there was one, and not exactly knowing if the university was going to find me when I got off the overlander train from Auckland.

So far the philosophy has worked out. I have put in my effort but have never really worried about my situation. That is until last Saturday.

I received an e-mail from my parents telling me they’d received a letter from Tech saying that the University needed to recieve a confirmation letter to my acceptance to the Technology and Management Program (http://mgt.gatech.edu/programs/under/tm/index.html).

I immediately got concerned and worried about them not receiving my confirmation knowing that I had sent and they had received the confirmation I faxed 4 days prior.

It really got me thinking as to whether or not my core philosophy had changed or had merely had slight surface change. To be honest I don’t really know.

I find myself doing my work for my classes and still being happy and not overly stressed. But is it merely a product of being in the NZ culture, or is it because of me?

I don’t think I will know the answer to that question until I leave but I sincerly hope that I am successfully able to adapt part of the NZ culture into the rest of my life!

Cheers!
